ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) – The LSUA Generals basketball teams swept a doubleheader against the University of North Texas-Dallas Trailblazers on Saturday.
The women’s team won 71-68, while the men’s team secured a 75-67 victory.
LSUA Women’s:
Kelly Norris opened the scoring for the Generals with a midrange jumper. UNT-Dallas responded as Allysa Pendley found space in the paint for two points, giving the Trailblazers a 6-5 lead.
Sydney Person put LSUA ahead 13-12 on a fast-break layup. Early in the second quarter, UNT-Dallas’ Channing Beuvais hit a midrange shot to make it 20-18 LSUA.
The Trailblazers tied the game at 32 when Shandrea Yeldell hit a three-pointer. LSUA answered as Reese Stephens hit a jumper, giving the Generals a 37-34 halftime lead.
LSUA extended their lead to 49-38 when McAyla Price hit a jumper. UNT-Dallas battled back as Jade Myles hit a three-pointer to give the Trailblazers a 65-62 lead.
With less than a minute remaining, Stephens got a steal and scored to reclaim the lead at 69-68. The Generals held on for the 71-68 victory.
LSUA Men’s:
The Trailblazers scored first as JT Curry got a putback layup. LSUA took a 5-4 lead when Jordan Decuir scored through contact on a fadeaway jumper.
UNT-Dallas regained the lead when Curry powered to the basket for a layup. PD McCraney caught fire for the Generals, hitting a three-pointer to put LSUA ahead 19-18.
McCraney hit his second-consecutive three-pointer, extending the lead to 25-21. The Trailblazers responded as Daryan Williams scored in the paint.
Courtney McCarthy scored on a putback layup for LSUA. The Generals went on to defeat UNT-Dallas 75-67.
The men’s victory was their third in a row.
