Two of the best teams in the NHL get set to meet on Sunday afternoon, as the Tampa Bay Lightning pay a visit to the Dallas Stars.
The Stars had one of the hottest starts in the NHL this season, as they and the Colorado Avalanche put themselves well above the rest of the pack. However, the Stars have fallen back down to Earth.
Following a 2-1 loss to the Utah Mammoth on Thursday night, Dallas has lost back-to-back games and nine of its last 11 contests. It has taken the Stars from being a Presidents’ Trophy candidate to a squad that might have to be no more than a playoff contender.
The Stars sit second in the Central Division, 11 points back of the Avalanche.
The Lightning had a rough start to their 2025-26 campaign, but, despite a plethora of injuries, have turned things around and are competing among the best in the Atlantic Division. They fell to the St. Louis Blues on Friday, snapping an 11-game win streak, but the Lightning still come into Sunday first in the division, just ahead of the Detroit Red Wings.
