ORANGE, Texas (KPLC) – A Texas man was arrested Sunday after leading Louisiana State Police on a high-speed chase from Vinton across the Texas state line.
Troopers attempted to make a traffic stop in the Vinton area for speeding and improper lane usage on a white Toyota Corolla just after 3 p.m., according to LSP Public Information Trooper Roy Jones.
Jones said the driver sped off, reaching speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, and going from Vinton, through Sulphur and DeQuincy before heading to Texas on I-10.
At one point, the Corolla struck a van during the chase, however, no injuries were reported from the crash, Jones said.
The chase continued on I-10 over the Texas line, where the driver crashed the Corolla in a parking lot in Orange, Jones said.
The driver was identified as Anthony Jay Laughlin, of Texas, Jones said. Laughlin was arrested and charged with evading arrest in Louisiana.
More charges are expected in Texas.
