Cowboys legend Michael Irvin has been a constant sideline presence throughout Miami’s College Football Playoff run. “Saturday Night Live” has taken notice.

On Saturday night, Irvin “joined” SNL’s Weekend Update to share a preview of Monday’s national title game between Miami and Indiana. Kam Patterson played the role of Irvin in the spoof.

In the spoof, SNL focuses on Irvin’s sideline celebrations in recent weeks. The Cowboys icon has appeared at Miami’s CFP wins over Texas A&M, Ohio State and Ole Miss. Before Irvin became one of the NFL’s greatest wide receivers, he stood out as a playmaking weapon at Miami.

Irvin suited up at the school from 1985-87, earning All-America honors while winning a national title in 1987.

According to the show, this version of Irvin was planning on running to Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium for the championship bout. He should have plenty of time to make it there, as kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday.
