AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 4 Women’s Basketball team recorded the second largest margin of victory in matchup history over Texas A&M, 80-35, Sunday afternoon at the Moody Center in the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown.
Alliyah Crump led the Longhorns (19-2, 4-2) with 12 points and six rebounds, with help from Rori Harmon and Madison Booker scoring 10 points each.
Kyla Oldacre recorded her fourth double-double of the season, with 10 points and a career-high of 18 rebounds.
The Texas defense opened up the game forcing a steal and a 10-second violation on Texas A&M. Breya Cunningham scored the first points for the Longhorns with a layup, and finished the quarter with eight Texas players scoring at least two points. Texas ended the first quarter leading 16-10 while also forcing nine turnovers.
At the end of the first half the Longhorns extended their lead to 10 points, finishing 34-24. Crump scored her first points back after being injured and Booker led the first half with eight points, two rebounds and three assists.
Texas finished out the third quarter leading Texas A&M, 57-27. The Aggies entered a scoring drought of 6:20 only breaking that with their single field goal of the quarter with 10 seconds left. The Longhorns outscored Texas A&M, 23-3 in the third period, marking the 17th time Texas has held an opponent to single digits in a quarter.
The Longhorns finished the game on a 7-0 run and recorded 14 steals and won the game, 80-35.
Up next the Longhorns will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas to face the Razorbacks on Jan. 25 at 3:00 p.m. at Bud Walton Arena. That game will be televised on SEC Network.
