Cold front with gusty winds lead to a chilly Monday

  • January 19, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Here we go again: Nice Sunday with a high temperature of 64 degrees in Lubbock.

Overnight, another surge of cold air will make Monday colder with scattered clouds. The cold front will also bring gusty north winds overnight and that will add to the chill on Monday.

So, our 15–20-degree alternating days of temperature swings will continue, at least through Monday.

It does appear that it will remain stable, temperature-wise, until late Thursday or Friday.

You can expect the afternoon highs to return to the 50s Tuesday and remain in the 50s until Thursday.

Another surge of cold air and 30s and 40s will return to the area by Friday. There may be some potential for wintry weather late week, but it will depend on the track of an upper level storm system.

Monday’s winds will be from the north to northeast at 15-25 mph with possible gusts over 30 mph.
