SAN ANTONIO – A man identified as Robyn Brooks, reportedly from Cuba and in the U.S. illegally, was arrested after allegedly ramming ICE vehicles with his car in front of a Walmart on San Antonio’s north side.

The incident, captured in a viral video, occurred during what ICE described as a “targeted vehicle stop.” This case has intensified discussions about immigration enforcement in San Antonio, with city leaders expressing concern over ICE’s methods.

Alex, a local resident, criticized ICE’s approach, stating, “This video and many other videos show how ICE operates.

They don’t go through legal processes such as using warrants or bringing people to court. Instead, they just take people off the streets, essentially kidnapping them.”

Suhk Kaur, another community member, emphasized the impact on local residents, saying, “Majority of us actually have residents in our districts that are affected by this, and so the majority of us really care about what SAPD is required to do, what ICE is doing and making sure that we are informing our residents that they know their rights.”

In response to the incident, District 10 Councilman Marc Whyte urged calm, stating, “You know, cooler heads prevail. And I’ve told my colleagues this, and I think they know it as well.

ICE officials, again, they’re here to enforce the laws of the country. They want to do it peacefully.”

A special city council session is scheduled for Thursday at 1 p.m. to discuss the interaction between SAPD and federal immigration enforcement. Authorities are investigating the background of Robyn Brooks, including any criminal history and the contents of his vehicle.

An ICE agent injured in the incident has been released from the hospital and is recovering well, though questions remain about the absence of paramedics at the scene.
