BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – According to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement responded to a report of a possible shooting at a residence on the 6300 block of Steep Hollow Circle.
From there Brazos County Deputies located two gunshot victims at the scene.

According to Brazos County Deputy, Nathan Dennis, the two victims did not survive.
“From there we are sad to inform everyone that the two subjects have passed away,” said Deputy Dennis. “We are not going to release names at this time until next of kin can be informed. We do have a person of interest that is currently detained right now.”
Person of interest located at restaurant
A large police presence could be seen at the Raising Cane’s on Briarcrest. From there Deputy Dennis was able to confirm a person of interest in the deadly shooting at the residence on Steep Hollow Circle was located at the restaurant.
“With the assistance of Bryan Police Department, I can confirm that a person of interest was located here,” said Deputy Dennis.
Police were seen outside of the Raising Canes on Briarcrest Drive following a deadly shooting at a Brazos County residence. Law enforcement has confirmed a person of interest in that shooting was detained at the restaurant.(KBTX)
That individual was taken into custody.
BCSO is asking people to avoid the area around Steep Hollow Circle as law enforcement continues to investigate the active scene.

On January 17, 2026, just after 5:00 p.m., the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a possible shooting. Deputies responded to the 6300 block of Steep Hollow Circle, where they located two individuals who had suffered gunshot wounds. The suspect had fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival.
Both victims received immediate medical treatment at the scene and were transported to a local hospital. Sadly, we can now confirm that both victims succumbed to their injuries.
A short time later, with the assistance of the Bryan Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, a subject of interest was located at a restaurant near the intersection of Briarcrest Drive and Oak Ridge Drive and was detained.
Currently, the victims’ names are not being released, as this case remains in the early and active stages of the investigation. We do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public currently.
The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones during this difficult time.
