AUSTIN, Texas (KBTX) – Texas A&M women’s basketball lost 80-35 to No. 4 Texas on Sunday afternoon. The 45-point loss marked the largest loss for the Aggies in the Joni Taylor era. Here is a game recap:
Why did A&M lose? The Aggies shot just 17% from the field and three-point line. A&M only scoring three points in the third quarter and 11 points in the second half.
Who stood out? Offensively, Janae Kent led the Aggies with a team-high 16 points and five rebounds. Despite A&M’s second half performance, the Aggie kept up with the Longhorns through the first half of the game. A&M’s defense forced the Longhorns to shoot 0-of-10 from beyond the arc over the first two quarters.
What’s next? The Aggies return home to Reed Arena on Thursday hosting No. 6 LSU.
