LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – We have an update to multiple crashes Saturday night on 34th Street that left a Lubbock Police officer two other drivers with minor injuries. Two men are now jailed, charged with evading arrest, stealing a vehicle and other charges.
According to LPD, an officer spotted a stolen vehicle near 34th Street and Boston Avenue at 10:42 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17. The officer tried to pull the driver over, but the driver took off. The officer began a chase by vehicle.
The driver of the stolen vehicle was headed westbound on 34th Street when the vehicle crashed with an SUV headed southbound on Quaker Avenue.
According to LPD, after the crash, Keonte Carr, 19, and Thomas Hambrick, 19, got out of the stolen vehicle and ran away. Officers ran after them and arrested them a short time later.
Investigators report Carr and Hambrick had minor injuries. Once they were medically cleared, they were taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center.
EMS took the driver of the SUV to the hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries.
Another LPD officer was responding to the chase, with lights and sirens activated, driving westbound on 34th Street near Indiana Avenue. The driver of a car was headed northbound on Indiana, when the patrol unit and car crashed at 10:47 p.m. Both the officer and driver of the car suffered minor injuries but were not transported by EMS, according to an LPD news release.

Carr is charged with evading in a vehicle, evading arrest detention, unauthorized use of a vehicle, criminal trespassing and reckless driving.
Thomas Hambrick(Lubbock County Detention Center)
Hambrick is charged with evading in a vehicle, evading arrest detention, unauthorized use of a vehicle, drug possession and an unrelated felony warrant.
