A familiar grocery name may soon be expanding its Collin County footprint once again. New planning documents suggest Trader Joe’s could be part of a proposed retail development in Wylie, adding another potential location to the popular grocer’s growing North Texas presence.
What Planning Documents Show
An item filed with the Wylie Planning and Zoning Commission outlines plans for a nearly four-acre retail project at 2710 W. FM 544. The proposal includes a grocery store and retail building, with renderings in the documents depicting a Trader Joe’s storefront.
While no official announcement has been made by the company, the visuals and description have sparked interest among residents familiar with the brand. Local Profile reached out to Trader Joe’s for comment but did not receive a response prior to publication.

Expansion Across Collin County
Wylie wouldn’t be the only Collin County city seeing new Trader Joe’s activity. In Frisco, the grocer has announced plans for its first location at the southwest corner of Main Street and Majestic Gardens Drive as part of a new development. An opening date and additional details have not yet been confirmed.
In McKinney, Trader Joe’s is also adding another store. The upcoming location in west McKinney will become the company’s second in the city, joining the existing store near US 75 on Craig Drive. As with Frisco, opening details for the new McKinney store have not been released.
What To Expect
Inside the store, shoppers typically find a mix of distinctive Trader Joe’s–branded items — such as Mandarin orange chicken and cold brew coffee concentrate — alongside everyday staples including milk, eggs, meat, baked goods and fresh produce. The grocer is also known for its wide selection of cheeses and fresh flowers, all offered with a focus on quality and value-driven pricing.
What Comes Next
For now, the Wylie location remains a proposal tied to a planning agenda item, not a confirmed store. Still, with Trader Joe’s actively expanding in nearby cities, the possibility is enough to generate buzz among shoppers eager for another convenient location in Collin County.
