An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with a wrong-way collision that killed two people early Saturday morning in Fort Worth, police said.

Axel Perez was arrested at 4:37 a.m. Saturday and booked into the Tarrant County jail on Sunday. He faces two charges of intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle. As of Tuesday afternoon, no bail amount had been set.

Officers responded to reports of a major accident at Interstate 35W and Garden Acres Drive around 2:08 a.m.

Investigators said a car, believed to be driven by Perez, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of traffic when it collided with another vehicle.

Two people, identified as Fructoso Cielo Tlatenchi, 63, and Saul Carlos Flores, 44, died at the scene, police said.

Both victims died around 2:16 a.m. from blunt force injuries, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.
