The most wonderful time of the year is here! No, not Christmas. I’m talking about Girl Scout Cookie season!!
This past Sunday, January 18th was the official kickoff of Girl Scout cookie season in the Southwest, which means Girl Scouts will be out in full force here in El Paso, knocking on doors, texting friends, and setting up booths outside Walmarts and local businesses. Ready to sell all your favorite cookies!
This past weekend local Girl Scout troops made their way to Girls Scout Way in Northeast El Paso to collect their cookie boxes to begin selling cookies to those of us who LOVE girl scout cookies.

Iris The Girl Scout?
Fun Fact: When I was younger I myself was tasked with selling girl scout cookies because well, I was a girl scout. I even have a picture to prove it. Just in case you questioned it.

Back then we didn’t have the internet though so our selling skills involved begging my aunts and uncles to buy cookies and walking around the neighborhood knocking on doors and hoping they didn’t buy cookies from anyone else yet!
These days, Girl Scouts have more options to sell their cookies and cookie lovers can buy cookies the good ole fashioned way or they can purchase them online!

El Pasoans Share Their Favorite Girl Scout Cookie Flavor
Every year Girl Scouts add a new cookie flavor and this year’s newest addition to the lineup is Exploremores, a rocky road–inspired cookie that blends rich chocolate flavor with marshmallow and toasted almond crème. Some could say that it tastes like a softer, extra-chocolatey Oreo. Yum!
Altogether, there are nine different Girl Scout cookie flavors, and each package costs $6. Every box supports a good cause. Proceeds from cookie sales help Girl Scout troops fund field trips, earn badges and patches, and take part in fun and educational activities that teach leadership and life skills.
According to Girl Scouts of the USA, the top-selling cookies nationwide include Thin Mints, Caramel deLites (also known as Samoas), Peanut Butter Patties (Tagalongs), Peanut Butter Sandwiches (Do-si-dos), and Lemonades/Lemon-Ups. In the Southwest, Girl Scouts sell ABC Bakers cookies, which include Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, and Lemonades.
Personally, my favorite cookies are the Lemonades and the shortbread cookies, but I was curious to see what cookies El Pasoans loved the most so I went to Facebook to ask!
