EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Dozens of protesters gathered at San Jacinto Plaza in downtown El Paso on Tuesday as part of a wave of walkouts and demonstrations taking place across the country, marking one year since the start of President Donald Trump’s second term.
Chanting and holding signs, demonstrators filled the park in downtown. Messages on poster boards and banners included “Stand with Immigrants,” “Free America,” and “86 47,” slogans that reflected opposition to the administration and support for immigrant communities.
In a flyer posted online, organizers demanded, “Stop ICE Terror.” The group echoes similar actions nationwide, where workers, students, and community members walked out of schools and workplaces to express dissatisfaction with federal policies enacted over the past year.
There has been no formal organization identified as leading the El Paso demonstration.
