LOVELADY, Texas (KLTV) – A man convicted of decapitating his wife has been found dead from a hanging in his Houston County prison cell.
Jared James Dicus, 24, of Waller County, pleaded guilty in 2024 to murdering his wife, Anggy Diaz, according to a KTRK report. She was found decapitated in their home in January of 2023, just months after the pair were wed in October. Dicus was sentenced to 40 years where he was held at the Wainwright Unit in Houston County.
He was found hanging by the neck in a single-person cell Friday, according to a state death report.
After he was found, life-saving efforts were made, but were not successful and Dicus was pronounced dead by responding EMS staff just before 11 p.m.
