AUSTIN, Texas — With the conclusion of the regular season this past weekend, Austin FC is now locked into its position as the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference of the MLS playoffs. For their effort, they have drawn No. 3 seed LAFC as their opening-round opponent in a best-of-three series.
The first game of the series will be Oct. 29 in Los Angeles and will return to Austin on Nov. 2. A third game, if necessary, will take place on Saturday, Nov. 8.
Austin defeated LAFC 1-0 on Oct. 12 to snap a six-game winning streak on a goal from Owen Wolff. At the time, LAFC had a shutout streak at 429 minutes, dating back to Sept. 21 against Salt Lake.
Should they win the series, Austin FC would face the winner of the series between FC Dallas and the Vancouver Whitecaps in the conference semifinals (Nov. 22-23).
