LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock Police say a 19-year-old man was taken into custody Monday evening (Jan. 21) near 78th Street and University Ave.
Matthew Wood was charged with criminal negligent homicide in connection with the death of 19-year-old Taylor Wilson.
According to LPD, on January 9th, officers responded to a shot fired call near 21st and Rochester Avenue around 10:40 p.m.

When they arrived on scene, LPD found Wilson with a gunshot wound. She was taken to UMC where she died from her injuries.
Police believe Wood was attempting to disassemble a gun when Wilson was shot.
Wood is being held at the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
