With new faces and returning stars, the Dallas Mavericks have a set team for the season ahead.

DALLAS — The NBA preseason is officially over, and all 30 NBA teams have their rosters set — including the Dallas Mavericks.

The Mavs had a busy offseason, which included drafting first overall, re-signing stars and role players, and making some free agency acquisitions. After missing the playoffs last season, the Mavericks have reloaded and look like real contenders in a competitive Western Conference.

The most apparent and exciting acquisition this offseason was No. 1 overall pick and Duke phenom Cooper Flagg. Flagg’s guard-like skills in a 6’9″ frame made him an offensive threat in college, and his game looks like it could translate to the NBA. The Mavs have already expressed some confidence having Flagg run the point.

Speaking of point guards, Kyrie Irving returns to the roster after signing a three-year deal in the offseason — but don’t expect to see him on the floor anytime soon. Irving is still recovering from a torn ACL. In his stead, fans can expect to see either Flagg, D’Angelo Russell or Dante Exum as the floor general.

At shooting guard, the Mavs also have plenty of returning talent to pick from, including Klay Thompson, Max Christie and Jaden Hardy.

P.J. Washington, Naji Marshall and Caleb Martin will all have to battle for minutes in the small forward spot, and they’ll be competing against Flagg, who could play as a point-forward.

The remainder of Dallas’ players — Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford and Dwight Powell — could fill in at either the power forward or center position, with the exception of Dereck Lively II, who Mavs fans have almost exclusively seen run the five.

Outside of the 15-man NBA roster, each team is allowed three two-way players, who can play interchangeably with the Mavericks and their G League affiliate, the Texas Legends. The Mavs have signed three promising undrafted rookies to two-way contracts: Moussa Cisse, Miles Kelly and Ryan Nemhard.

Cisse, a 6’11” Guinean center, comes to Dallas by way of Memphis. Cisse was a journeyman in college, suiting up for Memphis, Ole Miss and Oklahoma State University across a five-year collegiate career. Though often a quiet scorer, Cisse makes up for it with his elite rebounding and shot-blocking ability, thanks to a 7’5.5″ wingspan.

Kelly, a 6’4″ sharpshooting guard, spent most of his college career at Georgia Tech before transferring to Auburn for his senior season. Across 38 games, Kelly drained 88 three-pointers and averaged 11.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 steals.

Nembhard, a 5’11” Canadian point guard, might be the shortest on the Mavs roster, but he’s one of the most intriguing players on the roster. Brother of Indiana Pacers guard, Andrew Nemhard, he’s already made a name for himself in the preseason. Most notably, in the Mavericks’ win over Utah, Nemhard dished out 12 assists.

In addition to amping up the roster, Dallas’ coaching staff looks a lot different this season. Frank Vogel, who won a championship as head coach of the Lakers with Anthony Davis, will now be the lead assistant coach under head coach Jason Kidd.
