Residents in Willow Park will soon have a new “small-format” hospital in town.
Baylor Scott & White Health is building a new emergency hospital at 5400 E. Interstate 20 Service Road in the Parker County city.
The hospital, which will cost $15 million and is set to open at the end of the year, will boast eight inpatient beds and eight emergency department beds, as well as access to X-ray and CT imaging, according to state filings.
Baylor Scott & White Health spokesperson Matthew Olivolo was not able to provide a statement to the Fort Worth Report by publication deadline.
A press release from September noted that the Willow Park site, alongside two other “small-format” hospitals — one in Fort Worth’s Renaissance Square and one near the Texas Motor Speedway — would serve communities where medical care required longer commutes.
Those four cites will “add to the eight locations currently providing comprehensive care for major and minor adult and pediatric medical emergencies across North Texas,” the press release read.
The closest hospital to Willow Park is Medical City Weatherford, which is 10 miles away.
Currently, Baylor Scott & White provides primary care and family medicine to Willow Park residents at a site near the future hospital.
The expansion from the major nonprofit health system comes at a time of growth for hospitals in the area.
Texas Health Resources recently announced the construction of a new hospital, which will be built alongside its neighborhood care facility and orthopedic and spine surgery center. The revamped campus is set to open in 2028.
Willow Park’s population grew from 4,936 in 2020 to 6,851 in 2024, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. Parker County grew by 21% in that time.
