AUSTIN, Texas — A 22-year-old Round Rock man has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for possession of a machinegun. Ashton Blake Donaldson was convicted in an Austin court for building and storing an illegal fully-automatic firearm.
Donaldson was arrested on May 22, 2025, after selling multiple privately manufactured machineguns to an undercover agent, according to court documents. He faced charges of possession and transfer of a machinegun and pleaded guilty to one count of possession on July 24, 2025. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the FBI, the Round Rock Police Department, and the Austin Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan Buie prosecuted the case.
