LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE FROM LISD) – Lubbock Independent School District (Lubbock ISD) is monitoring reports from the National Weather Service (NWS) about a potential winter storm that could affect much of the Texas Panhandle and South Plains later this week. The Lubbock ISD operations team is in contact with representatives from the Lubbock NWS office and is preparing for possible delays, cancellations and early dismissals.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. The district is evaluating the possibility of hazardous driving conditions on Friday morning (Jan. 23) and considering how this will affect families and staff. Durham School Services is also part of the discussions to determine what this will mean for students who ride the bus to and from school.
The district asks families and staff to watch their email and SMS messaging for updates as this storm continues to develop. Families can also stay informed by checking the official Lubbock ISD Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/LubbockISD), the district website (https://www.lubbockisd.org/) and announcements on local news channels.
