The Kentucky Wildcats picked up another win on Wednesday night as they knocked off the Texas Longhorns, 85-80.
With plenty of stellar performances from several players on the roster, the injury bug bit this Kentucky roster once again as Kam Williams went down with a foot injury in the second half.
Then, after the game, head coach Mark Pope announced Williams suffered a broken foot.
“Kam’s foot is broken, so he’ll be out (a bit),” Pope announced. “He’s just a beautiful kid. I thought he actually made some special plays tonight. We’re going to get him back healthy as soon as we possibly can, but he’ll be out for a while, and that’s certainly a blow to us.”
Over the last few weeks, the importance of Williams has grown quite a bit. Bringing a 3-point threat to the forward spot, he has helped unlock a new-look offense for the Cats. Now it could be on the staff to readjust as Williams misses significant time.
With Jaland Lowe out for the season and Jayden Quaintance still out with knee swelling, let’s hope this doesn’t end Williams’ season. If so, Kentucky has some serious questions it needs to be asking around the athletics department as to why this keeps happening to the men’s basketball program.
