“It’s my second semester at UTA, so I’m hoping to find more clubs that I haven’t found in the first semester,” biology freshman Alexandra Williams said. “It’s also good to network with people and find things that fit your interests.”

Safia Mohammed, president of The Amanah Association, said the organization’s goal is to reach students and help them feel comfortable while giving back to their community.

“Everyone says, ‘Oh, snakes, I don’t like snakes,’ but we really want people to see that there’s nothing to be afraid of and that these creatures have these ecological niches, or they have these jobs in nature that are super important for the environment,” Shinn said.

He said the overall goal of the Herpetology Club is to keep people outdoors and educated in herpetology.
