PROVO, Utah (KCBD) – Days after suffering their first loss of the season to Kansas State, the No. 19 Texas Tech Lady Raiders (19-2, 6-2 Big 12) had their second loss Wednesday night, 73-61 at BYU.
Tech’s only lead came when Denae Fritz opened the game with a three-pointer. One minute later, a layup from Olivia Hamiln put the Cougars in front, and never relinquished the lead.
Turnovers frustrated the Lady Raiders since they had 21 on the night. However, they did win the battle on the boards with 29 rebounds. BYU had 35. The Cougars also had 16 more points in the paint.
Senior guard Snudda Collins led Tech with 17 points, and fellow guard Bailey Maupin had 11. BYU’s guard Olivia Hamlin clocked in 20 points as the lead scorer.
The girls will try to leave the Beehive State with at least one win on Saturday as they face the Utah Utes. Tip-off slated for 6 p.m. CT.
