With a winter storm bearing down on the Austin area this weekend, Texas basketball officials say Saturday’s home game against Georgia remains on schedule. The Longhorns (11-8, 2-4 SEC), who lost Wednesday at Kentucky, will host No. 21 Georgia in a noon game.

Texas hasn’t released an official statement on the possibility of a postponement, with an official saying the school is “obviously monitoring” the weather forecast. But the latest projections seem to favor that the game will tip with no issues; according to KVUE’s hourly weather report Thursday, temperatures in Austin won’t drop below freezing until early Saturday evening when a combination of sleet and freezing rain is expected to sweep across the area.

Travel concerns for Georgia and the game officials could also factor into a possible postponement of the SEC game. The Bulldogs will likely fly out of Atlanta, which is not expected to receive any winter weather this weekend.

Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte, who regularly responds to questions and concerns from Texas fans on his X account, posted Wednesday that “we’ll keep an eye on the weather” in the buildup to Saturday’s game.

“At this point in time, the game is scheduled to be played,” Del Conte wrote. “If something changes, we will keep you posted.”
