Well, this is a bummer. Francesca’s, a fun and affordable women’s clothing and accessory store, is closing all locations, including the Lubbock location in Kingsgates South. Personally, I really enjoy this store, and have gotten some really nice clothing and earrings from there, including the beautiful dress for my Midsommer Halloween Costume:
Yeah, I was having a pretty good time at that party.
Francesca’s Closing Every Store
According to The Street, “The fashion news outlet [ Women’s Wear Daily] reported that the abrupt closure and liquidation were due to unpaid vendors,” however, Francesca’s has not responded to this allegation. It is likely Francesca’s will file for bankruptcy soon, and some employees have already been fired. The company had already filed for bankruptcy in 2020.

Shop While You Can
The website looks like business-as-usual right now (1/22/26), however, that could change soon. While our Francesca’s was located in the popular Kingsgate shopping center, most of our locations were in malls. There are more than 450 stores, many of which are already running clearance sales.

While I am saddened by the loss of a cute tops and dresses shopping experience in such a convenient location, I’m even more broken-hearted for the sweet and helpful employees who work there, and who were always so welcoming and kind to their customers. The Lubbock store is just one of many getting swept away by a big corporate tidal wave, even though it deserved so much better than that.
