New Braunfels ISD announced Joe Alexandre as the district’s new director of construction and planning in a Jan. 20 news release.

Alexandre has over 25 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, most recently serving as the director of construction and planning for Hays CISD, the release states.

He has led construction initiatives in the education, retail and finance sectors. Since 2023, he has overseen construction and planning efforts at HCISD, including work on the district’s 2025 bond program, a capital improvement initiative totaling more than $900 million. Before his time at HCISD, Alexandre spent 10 years as the project and construction manager of capital projects at Texas State University, where he managed projects ranging from $20 million to $180 million, according to the release.

In addition to his professional experience, Alexandre has served in public roles within the community. He is currently the mayor pro tem for the city of Bulverde and has previously served on Bulverde’s planning and zoning commission as chair, vice chair and commissioner, according to the release.
