A shooting was reported Thursday afternoon at a Dallas park near Woodrow Wilson High School, district officials told The Dallas Morning News.

A police call log showed 10 units were dispatched about 3:45 p.m. to the 100 block of South Glasgow Drive, near Willis C. Winters Park. Yellow crime scene tape blocked off almost two blocks, which were surrounded by officers, students and parents. Lines of school buses drove past, stuck in the traffic caused by street closures.

DISD spokeswoman Robyn Harris confirmed the incident occurred across the street from campus, not inside the school.

Harris said she did not have any information on whether any of the individuals involved in the shooting were students.

Students began leaving the school at 4:30 p.m. as usual, Harris said. Woodrow Wilson families have been alerted to the incident, and that dismissal will occur uninterrupted.

Alexis Cisneros, 29, stood on a patch of grass outside school, holding her 1-year-old daughter in her arms, as she watched the scene of students and police unfold.

Cisneros said she lives down the street and sensed something was wrong when she saw and heard the flurry of sirens come down the road.

She rushed over immediately, explaining her 12-year-old son attends J.L. Long Middle School next to the high school. He told his mother his school was on lockdown.

“It’s concerning,” she said, her voice starting to shake. “You can just never know what can happen. I just wanted to know that my son was ok.”

Officials with Dallas police and Dallas Fire-Rescue did not immediately respond to requests for more information.

In March 2022, shots were fired at Woodrow Wilson High School after a fight broke out near the school’s football field. The weapon was aimed at the sky.

Earlier that year, in February, Dallas police responded to two altercations at Willis C. Winters Park. During one, officers confiscated one gun in an adjacent parking lot.
