TORNILLO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 34-year-old Tornillo man was arrested Sunday for robbery after he allegedly attacked the victim and stole their truck keys.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Javier Humberto Hernandez was arrested Sunday night after deputies found him in the 19200 block of Tornillo Avenue in Tornillo.

His arrest comes after a warrant was issued on robbery charges for an incident that happened Saturday night.

The Sheriff’s Office said that on Saturday, at around 7:13 p.m., deputies responding to reports of an assault in the 300 block of NW H Avenue in Fabens, met with the victim of a robbery who claimed that Hernandez had damaged their vehicle, assaulted them and stolen the victim’s truck keys before fleeing.

Jail records show Hernandez was booked into the El Paso County Downtown jail and charged with criminal mischief and robbery, with a combined bond set at $27,500.

According to jail records, as of Tuesday afternoon, Hernandez remains jailed.
