A new statewide honor celebrates leadership, advocacy and impact across the disability community
A new chapter in Texas advocacy and recognition is officially underway with the announcement of the inaugural class of the Texas Disability Hall of Fame, set to be honored in 2026. The initiative spotlights individuals whose leadership, service and influence have helped advance inclusion, accessibility and opportunity for people with disabilities across the state.
The Texas Disability Hall of Fame was created to recognize Texans whose work has made a lasting difference, whether through advocacy, education, innovation, public service or community leadership. By elevating these stories, the organization aims to broaden awareness, inspire future leaders and strengthen statewide dialogue around disability rights and inclusion.
The inaugural class represents a diverse range of backgrounds and professional paths, unified by a shared commitment to creating a more equitable Texas. Honorees were selected for their measurable impact and long-standing dedication to improving lives, expanding access and fostering inclusive communities.
A Public Celebration In North Texas
The inaugural class will be formally recognized during the North Texas Disability Chamber 2026 Annual Meeting on Feb. 6, 2026, at the Plano ISD’s Robinson Fine Arts Center in Plano. The event is open to the public and free to attend, with RSVP required.
The annual meeting will serve not only as a recognition ceremony but also as a gathering point for advocates, business leaders, educators and community members invested in advancing disability inclusion throughout North Texas and beyond.
Building Awareness And Momentum
The Texas Disability Hall of Fame reflects a growing movement to ensure disability representation is recognized alongside other forms of leadership and civic contribution. Organizers hope the annual honor will continue to grow in visibility and influence, helping to spotlight stories that are often underrepresented while encouraging collaboration across sectors.
