NWS: Wintry mix, freezing temperatures forecast for San Antonio, Hill Country

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Live-threatening cold is heading for San Antonio and the Hill Country, and weather forecasters are describing the coming winter blast as a ‘long duration freeze.’

The National Weather Service says dangerously cold temperatures will impact most Texas, and an even larger portion of the United States.

Multiple winter weather warnings and advisories are now in place, and once temperatures start dropping on Saturday, they are expected to linger until sometime on Monday.

Long duration freeze Hill Country (near 48 hours) and Austin metro (36-48 hours)

Wind chill values single digits to lower teens Saturday and Sunday nights

Freezing rain across Hill Country as early as Saturday morning
