Donnie Yantis announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he has resigned as the head football coach at Plano Prestonwood Christian after four seasons at the private school.

“It was just time,” Yantis said. “I’m looking at a number of things.”

He said he is considering other coaching opportunities, as well as opportunities outside of coaching.

Today, I resigned as the head football coach at Prestonwood. I’m grateful for the 4 incredible years and We made a difference in many kids lives on and off the field. My wife and I are excited about what God has next for us in this journey. 🙏🏻

Prestonwood was the TAPPS Division I state runner-up this season, losing 14-7 to Parish Episcopal in the state championship game to complete a 7-5 season. Yantis had a 32-15 record at Prestonwood and was a state runner-up in 2022 and a state semifinalist in 2023.

“I had a wonderful experience with the kids and the families. They were awesome,” Yantis said.

Yantis was the head coach at Valor Christian in Colorado the two years before coming to Prestonwood, earning state runner-up finishes each season while compiling a record of 20-2.

Yantis spent the 2016 to 2019 seasons at Arizona State working for head coaches Todd Graham and Herm Edwards. He was an assistant athletic director and football recruiting coordinator in his first two seasons before becoming the tight ends coach and special teams assistant.

Before that, Yantis started Arizona Christian University’s football program from scratch. In 2015, he led his team to the NAIA Central States Football League championship with a 6-0 record in conference play.

Before working at the collegiate level, Yantis spent 14 years as the head coach at Paradise Valley (Ariz.), where he amassed 94 wins and produced a 10-0 season in 2004.
