FORT WORTH – David Grant Thomas, 73, passed away on Sunday January 18, 2026. Visitation: 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2026, at Greenwood Funeral Home in Memorial Suite A, 3344 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in Independence Chapel at Greenwood Mausoleum, 3210 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Interment to follow in Greenwood Memorial Park. David was born in Columbus, Ohio, on September 11, 1952, to Kenneth and Dorothy Thomas. After graduating Brewer High School in 1971, David worked various jobs until he joined his father driving long haul trucks. Dave and his father were “trucking buddies” until a wreck in 1979 severely injuring Dave’s legs. After years of healing and learning how to walk again, he worked for Adams & Son Transportation. In 1993, Dave was in a motorcycle accident that took his right leg. In 1994, Dave met the love of his life Debbie and were married on September 2, 1995, and were able to celebrate 30 wonderful years together. David became a Pappaw instantly and enjoyed all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dave and Debbie enjoyed going on driving trips. He enjoyed watching his nephews racing go carts and modifieds, painting like Bob Ross, watching NCIS and was a big NASCAR fan when he wasn’t sleeping. Dave greatly enjoyed family gatherings, especially watching the nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews as they came along. Dave enjoyed watching his brother, Dink, and nephew, Buck, as they performed with The Legends of Texas. David was preceded in death by both his parents; sister, Brenda Thomas; and mother-in-law, Viola Chatwin. He is survived by the love of his life, Deborah Thomas; brother, Dink Thomas (Stephanie); stepson, Chris Harrell (Christie); stepdaughter, Aimee Yount; niece, Ashley Caldwell (John); nephews, Buck Thomas (Holly), Jarrod Thomas (Katherine) and Troy Thomas, grandchildren, Brittany Vines, Bryan Harrell (Lauren), Alyssa Harrell, Ayla Campbell (Chase), Suzie Green (Garrett), Trey Yount, Preston Yount, Abby Harrell and Casey Harrell; great-grandchildren, Kassandra and Tyler Harrell and Parker Yount; great-nieces, Brena Thomas, Annie and Sadie Caldwell; great nephews, Ian Thomas, Logan and Cameron Thomas; multiple distant family and lifelong friends, Don Gatch, Bobby Mankin and Ed LeBlanc; and his fur babies, Chloe and Missy, which they will miss their daddy.
