In preparation for this weekend’s winter storm, the university will operate under adjusted hours and policies for certain facilities and services, UTA announced in a university-wide email Friday. Several campus events are also being canceled.

Winter precipitation is expected to start Friday, persist through Saturday and possibly continue Sunday morning, Allison Prater, National Weather Service meteorologist, told The Shorthorn Wednesday. Travel should be avoided unless necessary, Prater said, as roads are expected to be covered in sleet and ice, alongside dangerously cold temperatures.

Students can check for updates throughout the weekend from Maverick Dining, Parking and Transportation Services and Housing. The Commons and the University Center will be used as warming centers if power outages occur.
