CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Update:
Officials told 3NEWS on Tuesday afternoon that the lights are now operational.
Traffic lights at Weber and S.P.I.D. is malfunctioning has been for days according to TxDOT, but officials hope the issue will be fixed by close of business on Tuesday.
TxDOT Corpus Christi District Public Information Officer Rickey Dailey told 3NEWS that crews are working on the lights at the intersection.
Dailey said that crews began work over the weekend, but ran into a power issue that required AEP’s assistance. Dailey said those issues have now been fixed by AEP, and his crews are on scene trying to resolve the problem.
“Hopefully by the end of the day,” Dailey said.
Traffic in the area is extremely heavy, and drivers should expect delays.
Corpus Christi Police Department PIO Antonio Contreras said “Have patience in the area.”
