Texas basketball will try and snap a two-game skid Saturday at Moody Center against the nation’s highest-scoring team in Georgia.

But will the Longhorns (11-8, 2-4 SEC) try and play at the same frenetic tempo as Georgia (16-3, 4-2)? Not necessarily, says Texas coach Sean Miller.

“I don’t think we can play at the speed that they’re playing,” he said. “I only say that simply because I don’t know if that’s in our best interest. I think we want to push it, and we want to play with pace (but) I don’t think we want to play at their pace. We would like the game to be played more at our pace than theirs.”

Texas slowed things down in the first before approximately 7,000 fans not scared of the incoming the winter storm, but the Longhorn trailed 37-30 at halftime.

Texas has exploded for a 36-10 run over the last 11 minutes. Dailyn Swain (26 points) and Tramon Mark (21 points) leading the way, but the Longhorns’ dominance on the glass has been a big story. Texas has outboarded Georgia 16-5 this half.

Sean Miller says Texas will foul the stuffing out of a team, or something like that. But the Longhorns have only committed three fouls this half, and Georgia is just 2 of 4 from the foul line after the break.

Cam Heide hits his first basket of the game, and his baseline 3 gives Texas its first double-digit lead. The Longhorns are starting to wear down Georgia on the boards; they have five offensive rebounds and 11 second-chance points this half.

Tramon Mark (19 points) has heated up. The Texas guard had a personal 8-0 run that included two 3-pointers to give the Longhorns the lead. The pace has picked up, and Texas seems to like it.

The Bulldogs respond to an  early second-half push from Texas. The Longhorns are getting more from big man Matas Vokietaitis this half; he has seven of his 10 points over the last 4:12.

Two free throws and a dunk from Matas Vokietaitis, a breakaway layup by Tramon Mark and a drive to the basket by Dailyn Swain. Texas has opened the second half on an 8-0 run.

Texas scores just four points in the final 4 minutes, 50 seconds of the first half. Georgia isn’t exactly  a defensive powerhouse, but the Longhorns are being forced into some tough shots late in the shot clock. And Texas has just two foul shots, a season-low for a half. Dailyn Swain has 12 points to pace Texas, and Somto Cyril has 11 to lead Georgia.

Lassina Traore is struggling off the bench for Texas, and a flagrant 1 on a breakaway Georgia dunk doesn’t help. Fouls, again, are killing Texas.

Tramon Mark hits a baseline 3, and Georgia takes its first timeout. The Bulldogs leads the nation in scoring at 96 a game, so Texas coach Sean Miller has to be happy with the pace.

Dailyn Swain drains a pair of 3-pointers late in the shot clock and he’s keeping Texas in the game with 10 points. The rest of the Longhorns have a combined nine points.

Jordan Pope fouls Georgia’s Jeremiah Wilkinson on a 3-point shot right in front of Texas coach Sean Miller. At this point, Miller is at his wit’s end about the Longhorn fouls. Georgia is 6 of 7 from the foul line and 6-of-12 from the floor.

Matas Vokietaitis has picked up two quick fouls for Texas, including an illegal screen that has Sean Miller irate at the officials. So far, Georgia is winning the battle for the loose balls.
