Texas A&M men’s basketball extended its SEC winning streak to three games with a dominant 92-69 victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks at Reed Arena on Saturday afternoon.
While a nasty winter storm is sweeping across the United States this weekend, the Maroon and White were anything but cold against the Gamecocks. Texas A&M shot 48% from the field and 44% from beyond the arc in the contest, while out-rebounding South Carolina 43-30 and forcing 10 turnovers.
Everybody got a turn in the ‘Bucky Ball’ fun, as forward Zach Clemence led the team with 21 points with a career high seven 3-pointers, helping the Aggies secure 43 points off the bench. Bucky McMillan’s squad also displayed much improvement from the free-throw line, shooting 100% in the second half and 90% in the game.
On a chilly afternoon in College Station, the Aggies kept the court nice and warm with another outstanding performance against a conference foe, to improve to 6-1 in SEC play.
McMillan has his squad on a tear through the conference in just his first season at the helm. It may sound like a broken record, but there is no understating how well McMillan has done in just a short amount of time. Texas A&M sits atop the conference with a 16-4 overall record and six victories in league play. Now, cleaning up the little things and remaining focused on the tasks at hand will be integral as the Aggies’ odds of reaching the postseason continue to increase.
