CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A pair of shootings on Jan. 23 led to injuries to three police officers, two of which were sent to the hospital with gunshot injuries according to the Corpus Christi Police Department.
Police say they responded to a shooting just before 3 p.m. where they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
CCPD says officers made contact with a suspect vehicle involved in the shooting at around 3:30 p.m. Police made contact with the man suspected of the earlier shooting before he began firing his weapon toward police.
Two officers were shot; one is stable while the other was in critical condition at last report. A third officer was injured by shrapnel but was not transported to the hospital.
Police say the shooter, a 38-year-old man, is stable at a local hospital in police custody.
The Corpus Christi Crónica, a local publication, reports the officer in critical condition is Senior Officer Alexandria Castro: this hasn’t been independently verified by Crossroads Today, despite efforts to confirm with the CCPD.
