The winter storm that much of Texas has been bracing for arrived, covering several cities with ice and snow and causing power outages. But with the storm’s arrival comes a new warning: that of an ice storm.
Though the wintry mix is still making its way to cities in Central and South-Central Texas, such as Austin and San Antonio, road conditions in Dallas today, Saturday, January 24, are giving those awaiting the ice storm an idea of what to expect. A winter storm warning has been in effect for various regions in Texas, including North and East Texas cities and the surrounding suburbs and towns.
The issuance of an ice storm warning by the National Weather Service (NWS) around 6 a.m. Saturday in Anderson, Freestone, Henderson, Leon and Van Zandt Counties – all east or southeast of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex – indicates more ice accumulation could be on the way for North, Central and South-Central Texas. This warning is set to run until Sunday, January 25, at noon.
