Lady Eagles get medals at Tuloso-Midway meet

The Woodsboro girls powerlifting team turned in a competitive showing Saturday at the Beau Savanich Memorial Powerlifting Meet at Corpus Christi Tuloso-Midway, finishing fifth in the team standings while placing lifters in the top four across several weight classes.

Woodsboro totaled 17 team points, finishing behind Beeville, Corpus Christi London, Tuloso-Midway and Falfurrias.

The Lady Eagles’ top performances came in the middle and upper weight classes. Sidney Castillo delivered one of the strongest lifts of the meet at 181 pounds, finishing third with a 915-pound total after squatting 340 pounds, benching 205 and deadlifting 370. Castillo’s effort earned three team points in one of the meet’s most competitive divisions.

Woodsboro also posted strong results at 148 pounds, where Lariyah Lopez placed second with a 750-pound total. Teammate Chrissa Gray followed with a sixth-place finish at the same weight, totaling 580 pounds, while Leila Villegas placed eighth.

In the 165-pound division, Skielar Castillo finished second with a 740-pound total, and Kaygen Lewis placed fourth at 715 pounds, giving Woodsboro multiple scorers in the same class. At 220 pounds, Carlee Wiginton added a fourth-place finish with a 750-pound total.
