26-year-old Anthony Porche faces up to 20 years in prison after jury rejects defense.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 26-year-old Virginia man who once lived in Corpus Christi has been found guilty of possessing child pornography, federal prosecutors announced.

In a press release provided by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas, a jury convicted Anthony Porche after about nine hours of deliberations, following a three-day trial.

Investigators told the jury the case began in October 2023, when authorities discovered Porche was viewing and downloading images and videos involving child sexual abuse. Law enforcement later searched his home and seized several electronic devices.

During the trial, officers testified that a search of Porche’s cellphone uncovered pornographic images. Porche admitted he downloaded the material over several months and said there were at least five images on his phone.

Porche’s defense argued that his autism diagnosis prevented him from understanding that possessing the material was illegal. Jurors rejected that argument and found him guilty.

U.S. District Judge David S. Morales set sentencing for April 23.

Porche faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a possible $250,000 fine. He remains free on bond until sentencing.
