EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso residents gathered downtown on Tuesday to protest against ICE and President Trump, aiming to raise awareness about recent events, including an ICE-involved shooting in Minneapolis and the third death at the Camp East Montana detention facility.
Demonstrators highlighted the inhumane conditions at the facility, noting that it lacks connection to city services, which they argue contributes to fatalities.
“These impromptu facilities meant to house hundreds of people with no connection to city services because we stood out there protesting and seeing people bringing in potable water and grey water,” one protester said.
Another added, “The kids that are being abused that no one’s speaking out for them.” The protest also addressed family separations and detentions of individuals attending court dates.
The Department of Homeland Security has denied claims of inhumane conditions, stating the allegations are “categorically false.”
