The community fundraiser aims to send Central Texas veterans on “trips of a lifetime” to Washington, D.C.

AUSTIN, Texas — KVUE is proud to announce its inaugural Honor Flight Austin Telethon on Wednesday, Nov. 6, raising funds to send Central Texas veterans on all-expense-paid trips to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials built in their honor. The day-long effort will bring together the Central Texas community to support those who gave so much for our country.

For years, Honor Flight Austin has provided World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans the opportunity to travel with fellow service members to the nation’s capital for a profoundly meaningful visit to the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice.

“At KVUE, we’re incredibly grateful for the service and sacrifice of Central Texas veterans. Their courage has shaped our nation and our community.” said Byron Wilkinson, President and General Manager of KVUE.  “Partnering with Honor Flight Austin and Nyle and Nancy Maxwell to help give these heroes a trip of a lifetime to Washington, D.C. is a true privilege — and a small way we can say thank you.”

“Supporting Honor Flight Austin is a cause that means a great deal to our family and our company,” said Nyle Maxwell. “These trips are life-changing for veterans, and we’re honored to stand with KVUE and our community to make them happen.”

Honor Flight Austin Chairman Matt Mathias shared his enthusiasm for the continued partnership:

“KVUE has been an incredible partner in helping us tell the stories of our veterans and rally the community behind this mission. This telethon is a powerful way to say ‘thank you’ and to ensure that every veteran who wants to experience Honor Flight can do so.”
