Lubbock Red Light Accident October 18th; Katie McLellan Killed in Crash Katie McLellan was seriously injured on Saturday in an accident with a driver that ran a red light in Lubbock.

According to police, the crash occurred at about 8:51 a.m. when a pickup truck driven by a 31-year-old man blew threw a traffic light at 19th Street and Upland Avenue, colliding with an SUV that Katie McLellan was a passenger in. McLellan and a three-year-old girl both sustained serious injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The accident remains under investigation.

TRAFFIC LIGHT CRASH INVESTIGATION

Traffic laws clearly state that drivers must stop at all red lights. Unfortunately, motorists do not always abide by these laws, resulting in accidents such as the one that left Ms. McLellan and the little girl injured.

Every year, red light runners cause about 1,000 deaths and 127,000 injuries in the U.S. Shockingly, half of those killed aren’t the reckless drivers, but innocent pedestrians, cyclists, and other motorists caught in the danger.

While the cause and liability of the crash are being investigated, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, said that it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned attorney.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash, and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party,” said Bond, a national analyst for The Legal Advocate.  “Time is of the essence in cases such as this, and the victim’s family must ensure that evidence is reviewed efficiently.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Katie McLellan may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, noted that the stress and worry following a serious injury can be overwhelming, disrupting all aspects of life, including family, work, finances, and overall quality of life.

“Although no amount of money can make up for a devastating injury, it is important that a victim is made aware of their rights and what they are entitled to by law,” Formica added. “The injured victim in this collision may be entitled to an injury claim, and they may seek recovery for damages including medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.”
