As the forecast continued to show freezing temperatures into Tuesday, districts began turning their attention to Tuesday. DeSoto ISD was the first to announce it would also cancel classes on Tuesday, with Dallas, Fort Worth, Denton, Plano, Arlington, Duncanville, Wylie and several other districts soon following suit.
School officials cited student and staff safety concerns, including icy roads and prolonged exposure to extreme cold, as reasons for the closures.Â
District leaders say they will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as needed.
