The college football season came to an end this past week as the No. 1-seed Indiana Hoosiers capped off their season with a perfect 16-0 record after winning the College Football Playoff National Championship.
While the 2025 season has somehow come and gone already, fans are already looking ahead to next year. However, it’d be hard to imagine that some teams across the country aren’t grateful they don’t have to play at the moment, as a nationwide winter storm has led to power outages, school cancellations and snowfall.

One college football program that doesn’t typically experience a lot of snow is now seeing its stadium covered in it, as the Texas Longhorns‘ social media team took to X to share a picture of Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium.
As seen below, the entire field is blanketed in snow, while seats around the stadium that holds 100,000+ people are also covered.
While many associate Texas with warm weather, ABC has confirmed that the Lone Star State is anything but this weekend.

The report revealed that in Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas, there are over 900,000 people without power.

According to a report by the Austin-American-Statesman, residents are to expect freezing conditions and are being advised to avoid being outside unless prepared.
“Morning temperatures are expected to drop into the teens, with wind chills near zero, and even below zero in parts of the Hill Country,” read the report. “Conditions this cold can quickly lead to hypothermia or frostbite, and the National Weather Service warns exposure risks are high without proper precautions.”

The Weather Channel has Austin at 25 degrees, but with the wind chill, it feels like 15 degrees.
As for the Longhorns, they finished the season 10-3, but their run game was a glaring weakness. So, while some Texas fans would have liked to see the Longhorns play in the snow at DKR, it may have gotten quite ugly.
