School closures across North Texas are now extending into Tuesday, as lingering ice, continued freezing temperatures, and unsafe road conditions prompt districts and institutions to suspend operations beyond the start of the workweek.

After near-universal closures were announced for Monday, a growing number of public school districts, charter networks, private schools, and colleges have confirmed additional closures for Tuesday, signaling that winter weather disruptions are expected to persist.

Several of the region’s largest school districts — including Allen ISD, Arlington ISD, Birdville ISD, Carroll ISD, Denton ISD, Fort Worth ISD, Frisco ISD, Garland ISD, Plano ISD, Richardson ISD, and Wylie ISD — have now announced closures for both Monday and Tuesday, according to updated notices.

Higher education institutions are also extending disruptions. Collin College, Dallas College, the University of North Texas, UT-Dallas, and multiple Tarleton State University campuses have announced closures or shifts to remote instruction through Tuesday, while other colleges continue to reassess conditions.

Officials have warned that even as precipitation slows, overnight refreezing could keep roads hazardous into Tuesday morning, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and shaded roadways. District leaders cited transportation safety and the ability of staff and students to travel safely as the primary factors behind extended closures.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, nearly all major public school districts across the Dallas–Fort Worth region had already announced full closures for Monday as winter weather intensified. The growing number of Tuesday closures marks a further escalation of the regional shutdown.

Families and staff are urged to continue monitoring official district communication channels for updates, as additional closures or schedule changes could still be announced depending on weather conditions and roadway treatment efforts.
