LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A motorcycle rider is seriously injured and his passenger died in a crash Thursday afternoon near Snyder, in Scurry County, on U.S. 84.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s preliminary investigation, Daniel Martin, 55, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, was riding a motorcycle northbound on U.S. 84. Another driver had just turned his SUV onto the highway from Ennis Creek Road, and was in the left lane.
Investigators say Martin didn’t control the motorcycle’s speed and rear-ended the SUV. Daniel Martin suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Lubbock hospital. His passenger, Theresa Martin, 50, died at the scene. According to a DPS news release, they were both wearing a helmet.
The SUV driver was not hurt.
