Hobby and Bush Airports report more than 100 cancelations between them on Jan. 26, 2026 amidst freezing temperatures.
With temperatures remaining below freezing for much of the day Monday, some roads still have icy conditions, according to Houston’s transportation officials. More than 100 flights across Houston have been canceled.
George Bush Intercontinental Airport reports some 82 cancelations and 31 delays on Monday, according to FlightAware, an aviation analysis company. Hobby Airport, too, has 24 cancelations and 15 delays listed on FlightAware.

Asked by Houston Public Media for information on their operations in the cold temperatures, a spokesperson for the Houston Airport System said, “Our airports remain open and operational.”

Those cancelations, though, are still far fewer than those on Sunday, according to FlightAware: Bush Airport saw 472 cancelations, while Hobby had 92.
Overall, Houston’s morning traffic did not look as it usually does on Monday, with major school districts closed for the day and many businesses closed or working remotely.

Houston TranStar, the city’s transportation authority, reported 15 separate icy conditions on roadways across the city as of Monday morning. Among the major impacted roadways are northbound Interstate 45 at Airline Drive, the westbound 610 North Loop at both McCarty Street and Gellhorn Drive, and northbound Interstate 69 at Little York Road.
Other roads have ice on all main lanes, according to TranStar. State Highway 288 has icy conditions on all lanes north and south of Sam Houston Parkway, which also has ice on all lanes.
