Richardson ISD has cancelled classes for a second consecutive day as temperatures remain frigid across most of North Texas.
Election Day is May 6.
On Sunday, RISD announced it would close schools on Jan 27 in response to “continued inclement weather and hazardous travel conditions,” having previously cancelled Jan. 26 classes earlier in the weekend.
Wind chill temperatures are forecasted by the National Weather Service to reach as low as six degrees around 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, although its Fort Worth-Dallas office also expects travel conditions to improve during daylight hours. Almost all of North Texas remains under an extreme cold warning as of midday Monday.
According to a notice, RISD will update families on altered athletics schedules and “any possible make up days.”
